Sales and Marketing Associate

Job Description

LKT Laboratories is a biochemical company based in Saint Paul, Minnesota. LKT supplies biologically active small molecules and peptides that enable research scientists around the world to better understand and treat cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, cardiovascular disease, and other afflictions of human health. We are looking for a talented Sales and Marketing associate to join our team.

In this sales and marketing role, you will work closely with both end users, distributors, and OEM partners to provide first-class support and strategic collaboration while demonstrating knowledge of LKT’s biochemical product lines. You will identify and pursue new customers, develop high value, differentiating marketing strategies to achieve growth from LKT’s global distribution network, and foster new growth in untapped industries.

While the role is primarily focused on engaging prospective and current customers and business partners, you will also be required to assist in the generation and implementation of LKT’s broader sales and marketing activities, including marketing content development and product information management as necessary.

This unique opportunity blends aspects of sales, e-commerce, business development, data management, and marketing in a scientific setting. Due to the nature of the position, applicants should be comfortable with scientific language and have at least a basic understanding of chemical and biological principles.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Profile, contact, and engage current and prospective customers
  • Develop and maintain strong customer and business connections
  • Utilize and maintain CRM database
  • Prepare discussion, communication, and marketing materials in support of joint business development strategies with LKT’s external partners
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for the expansion of LKT’s global network of distributors
  • Acquire technical knowledge to detail products and answer questions generated by customers, trade shows, publications, and website leads
  • Attend conferences and vendor shows to build contact network and promote products
  • Generate product lists and sales reports for internal and external use
  • Assist in day-to-day department administrative tasks including order processing, customer service, and data management

Requirements

  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Ability to self-motivate, work and solve problems independently
  • Excellent multi-tasking, time management, and organizational skills
  • Two years’ experience in sales, marketing, or business development
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with current and potential customers, product managers, technical support and customer service representatives, and colleagues
  • Ability to build meaningful business relationships with potential customers in academic institutions, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries
  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry or related scientific discipline.
  • A basic knowledge of chemistry, biological processes and principles, especially cell biology and biochemistry
  • Strong computer literacy; proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of the life sciences market is a plus
  • Experience with FileMaker Pro and Adobe suite of products is a plus
  • Experience with e-commerce and Google Ad is a plus
  • Flexibility to travel up to 10%
